Tube vs. Solid State Amplifiers
Tube and solid state are two types of technology inside amplifiers.
Old amplifiers all contained tubes, but from about the 1970's new technology, known as 'solid state' came into place. The two types of amplifiers generally aren't particularly different in appearance.
In most classroom settings you'll probably find yourself using solid state amplifiers, but it can be beneficial to be aware of the differences between the two.
